About

The Astoria Choir works to provide world-class choral music experiences to singers and audiences in the community of Astoria, New York.

The Astoria Choir has been providing world-class choral music experiences to singers and audiences in Astoria, Queens, since 2010. The non-profit organization’s one hundred volunteer singers come together to rehearse each week and perform music from classical masterworks to world-premieres and commissions. Each season features collaborations with professional vocalists and instrumental ensembles, and offers three to four concerts per year. Some recent highlights include Anton Bruckner’s Te Deum, the world-premiere performance of their commission The Beautiful America by Matthew Brown, and their participation in David Lang’s Mile Long Opera along Manhattan’s High Line Park. In the spring of 2019 The Astoria Choir marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots with a presentation of Jay Kawarsky’s moving work for choir and orchestra, Prayers for Bobby.
